Most farmers have heard a second or third-hand story about incident involving a child on-farm. These incidents have a profound effect on not only the child’s family but impact the social and economic fabric of farms and farming communities.
For farming families, the line between home and the workplace is often blurred. Safety is crucial not just for employees on farms, but those growing up on them too.
BASF’s Safety Champs programme has been designed to further help parents facilitate conversations about safety on-farm with children and create safer farming communities.
The programme aims to support parents to introduce farm safety to children in a way that acknowledges that we all have a responsibility to maintain safety. Central to this is the pack’s Farm Safety Pledge, which families are instructed to complete together.
And to keep things fun for the little ones, the pack also includes a child-sized safety vest and earmuffs as well as activities for the kids to complete.
BASF understands that introducing safety topics to children can be challenging.
Especially deciding what age and topic to begin with. Our Safety Champs pack has been created to help our farming communities make this process just a little bit easier.
